As soon as went through the process of developing my first photo, I knew that I loved this art. As a child, I would always take my father’s old Minolta and run around the yard taking pictures of everything. I never thought it would develop to where it has today.
Growing up in South Louisiana was a blessing. I’ve been fortunate enough to live the lifestyle of an avid outdoorsman. Hunting, fishing, backpacking and exploring have always been passions of mine. These passions have allowed me to spend the majority of my time outside, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Taking photographs allowed me to bring back those memories to share. In turn, I believe I developed a knack for photography.
In 2006, during my senior year at St. Thomas More High School, I took my first photography class. The class allowed access to a darkroom. After spending a short amount of time under the red light, I learned how raw photography is. I love being able to capture a certain moment in time that allows me to share that moment with others.
I graduated from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall of 2011, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. I was recognized and awarded for best photograph at the Big Easel Art Show for 2012, 2013, & 2015.
Along with school, I have worked at The Backpacker since 2009. The Backpacker is a local outdoor store. Since April of 2012 I have been the Store Manager of the shop. In March of 2013, my mother and I established Svendson Studio in Downtown Lafayette which displays her paintings and my photography.
I look forward and hope to continue making my work more available to others so that my passion might also become theirs.
